Another busy term comes to an end! We have been very pleased to see how many of our students have joined in with activities in the local community. At the beginning of September we launched a drive to include even more life skills in our curriculum to make it really meaningful. Learning how to cross roads, behave in shops or cafés and use public transport have featured strongly in many students’ weekly timetable (click here to read more).
We have also investigated the ways in which Maths and English skills can be developed in different lessons such as Cooking, PE, Outdoor Learning or Science. As a result we have seen students using reading and maths skills across the curriculum, which will help them to make progress.
The confidence and independence of our students continues to make us all very proud. Last week sixth formers from our Sport and Leisure group organised the annual Winter Olympics for the whole school. They did this brilliantly and showed fantastic leadership skills in the process. Our Performing Arts group entertained the whole school, as well as visitors, in a production of ‘Frozen’. Brilliant singing and dancing - and sets that were created by the Arts Group. What a talented group of students! It takes a great deal of confidence to sing and act in a packed hall. The audience created a great atmosphere and they joined in with some of the singing too. We were very proud of them all.
During the final week of term we have enjoyed many different activities - a Christmas sing-a-long, Christmas lunch, a sneak preview of the Beckfoot Christmas concert and our annual ‘Hazelbeck’s got Talent’ show.
We’ve had a great term; thank you to everyone involved in our school community, whether as a parent, director, member of staff or student.
Have a great holiday
