What a first half term it has been here at Hazelbeck. It has been absolutely amazing to see how well our new students have settled in to school and are already showing themselves to be ‘Hazelbeck Learners’. We are extremely proud of the way all our students have dealt with the transition into new classes, are working hard and making progress both academically and socially; the learning that is going on in classrooms is superb and the students’ engagement and enthusiasm is palpable.
This half term has seen a whole range of activities going on in school. A few of the highlights include our annual cycling residential which was a huge success and students came back brimming with confidence and excitement, an international day to launch our topic for this term ‘80 Days Around the World’ and trips to the Yorkshire Sculpture park, the theatre and Harewood House which have added to young people’s learning experience.
During Safeguarding Week all students took part in a range of different activities where they learned how to keep safe, how to look after themselves, what to do if they are in danger and promotion of British Values. We held our A-Team elections and are presently awaiting the results. At the end of the week each class displayed their work in the hall and everyone came to see what had been learned. The work that students had done was amazing and we have left a ‘Hazelbeck Advice Wall’ up to help everyone to keep safe.
Looking forward to next half term, on Friday 3rd November, we will be holding our first ‘Friends of Hazelbeck’ meeting for parents. We are looking for any parents who would be interested in supporting the school and helping to raise funds to come along to this first meeting and find out more. Please let us know if you would be able to attend.
Now it is time for everyone to have a break and enjoy the holidays…I hope they are restful and fun filled. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Monday 30th October.
