So we arrive at the end of term and what an amazing term it has been. We have had so many student achievements this term. It has been amazing to see our learners, new and old, increasing in their confidence, independence and willingness to tackle unfamiliar learning experiences and situations. We are extremely proud of the progress that all of our students are making both in their academic achievements and also their personal and social achievements.
There have been some real highlights during the term which demonstrate our students’ ability to manage themselves increasingly independently. This half term there has been the cooking competition where a group of students won the opportunity to have the product they had designed, tested and presented sold to the whole campus two days a week in January. A number of our students were involved in Bradford Special Schools first Musical Prom…it was a huge success and a real opportunity for our students to shine. Our school community day was based on the Circus and saw the whole school community including some Beckfoot students coming together and working on promoting social and communication skills between groups of learners.
Today our KS3 and 4 learners will be creating a nativity scene to finish their RE work on Christianity during which they have visited a church, had a visit from Reverend Anthony and been involved in a range of activities about how Christians celebrate Christmas.
We have, of course, had all of the end of term trips where our students have demonstrated their ability to interact well within the community and are great ambassadors for our school. Our annual Hazelbeck’s Got Talent was a huge success; this is a real opportunity for our students to show off their performing skills and it gets better and better year on year. We had some truly amazing performances this year, lots of laughter and a real sense of achievement from all of them. Of course all of this would not be possible without our amazing staff team whose pride in our students has been immense. I am hugely grateful to all of our staff and thank them for all of their hard work, thank our students for their enthusiasm, energy and making our school what it is and to all of you for supporting our students and school.
Have an excellent holiday and may it be peaceful and happy and may your New Year start well. We look forward to seeing everyone on January 2nd!
