Another fantastic Arts Week has been enjoyed by all the students and staff here at Hazelbeck for the fourth year running. Our theme this year was based on the ‘Seven Wonders of The World’, (although the theme was stretched to ‘14 Wonders’ to allow students from all our classes to take part).
As usual an 'Artistic Seed' was planted and we stood back and watched it blossom into something extraordinary! The week was filled with artwork, model making, music and dance and more, and all our students and staff rose to the challenge as they do every year.
We were very pleased to welcome Andrea from Fireflies Associates to our school to teach a small group of Hazelbeck and Beckfoot students some breakdancing. Students from Beckfoot joined us to play pieces of music from around the world using a variety of instruments and we are thankful for their continued support.
The Flamingo Chicks came into school to give a small sample of their ballet skills helped by some of our PMLD and supported learners. They thoroughly enjoyed their workshop before performing for the rest of the school.
The Bhangra Roots company made their presence heard all over Hazelbeck by beating their special drum and inviting all the students and staff to take part in a fabulous Bhangra disco which was followed by Ollie and The Afterhours Band who gave an outstanding jazz concert which got our students dancing again - they were magnificent!
We would like to thank all the artists who took part and supported this fantastic annual event, particularly Matt Stimpson and his music students from Beckfoot, and of course our thanks go to all the wonderful staff who took a snippet of the vision for Arts Week and turned it into something really magical for all our students.
