Welcome to our school community!
Welcome to the section of our website designed especially for parents and carers of students at Hazelbeck School. It’s important to us that you know what is going on in school and that you have a chance to share in the life of our school community.

We aim for this section to be as useful and informative as possible. Please let us know if you have any suggestions or comments.

Parental Link Worker Our Parental Link Worker is Saika Shaheen. She can be contacted by telephone between 9.30 and 2.30 each day on 01274 777107 or email: admin@hazelbeck.org

Coffee Mornings
We hold monthly coffee mornings for parents and carers – everyone is welcome. Please see the What’s on page of the website for dates. Sometimes we invite a speaker to share information, while other coffee mornings are times to catch up and share experiences with other parents and carers. This year we have organised information sessions about Makaton, school lunches and autism to name but a few.

Fundraising
We are very grateful to the group of parents who work with us to raise funds for the school; this help us to buy extra resources and items of specialist equipment. If you would like to join this group please contact Saika Shaheen on 777107 or come along to a coffee morning and register your interest.

Assemblies
Each Friday afternoon at 2.35pm we hold an Assembly for the whole school. All parents and carers are warmly invited to join us. The Assembly is led by a different base each week, and it is a chance to show what they have learned or to share something that they believe is important. We also hand out any Achievement Certificates and join with the choir to sing our school song. It’s a great way to end the week!

Transport
Home school transport is organised for many pupils through the Local Authority. Pupils are supported by escorts when travelling to and from school.
Please let transport know whenever your child is not able to attend school or any other time you do not need transport, for example if you bring your child into school or pick up your child yourself directly from school. Transport tel: 01274 385581

Child Protection
Your child’s safety is of paramount importance to us all and we are obliged to work within very clear procedures (see links below).
All members of school staff have enhanced DBS clearance and have undertaken child protection training.
Visitors to school are required to confirm their identity, sign in and wear a visitor badge.
By law school is required to refer concerns to the Children’s Social Care Services Department.  This procedure is intended to protect children.  When we refer a concern about a pupil to the Children’s Social Care Services Department we are requesting that further enquiries take place and that any necessary help and support is provided.
There are four Named Persons for Child Protection in school, led by the Headteacher, Sue Pierce. Kim Tollervey, a Director of the Board, is our Child Protection Governor.
If you have any concerns regarding child protection please contact school and speak to Sue Pierce in the first instance.
