Halloween Week Across the School
This week, our students enjoyed a fantastic range of Halloween-themed activities, with plenty of opportunities for learning, creativity, sensory exploration, and fun.

Red Pathway
Our Red Pathway classes immersed themselves in a variety of sensory Halloween experiences. Students explored spooky sensory trays, watched calming Halloween-themed sensory and relaxation videos, and learned Halloween-themed Makaton signs by joining in with Singing Hands songs. They also explored the meaning behind Halloween and enjoyed listening to This is Halloween from the Tim Burton film The Nightmare Before Christmas.
We recognised that everyone feels differently about Halloween. Some students loved the spooky theme, while others found parts of it a little scary. Our Halloween Tuck Shop was a highlight for many, although some students preferred to admire it from a distance!
Throughout the week, students enjoyed:
- Creating Halloween-themed artwork
- Counting ghosts and pumpkins in maths activities
- Taking part in the sensory story Webster’s Witch and the Ugly Potion
- Making bouncing spider crafts, fluffy ghosts, dot-art witches’ hats, and pumpkins
- Exploring real pumpkins through sensory activities
- Learning and singing Five Little Ghosts
- Sharing the story Funnybones
- Joining in with Halloween-themed Singing Hands sessions and Wii dance activities

Our Halloween Shop was beautifully decorated with student-made crafts and provided an opportunity for students to sell their delicious Halloween bakes.

It has been wonderful to see our students across all pathways engaging with Halloween in ways that suited their individual interests and needs. The week was filled with creativity, communication, sensory exploration, teamwork, and lots of smiles, making it a memorable learning experience for everyone involved.
