Uniform Voucher Policy – School Uniforms
The Beckfoot Trust will provide Financial Support to families of students on free school meals now or that have been on free school meals at any time within the last six years. The eligibility will be based on the students identified on the Government’s Ever6 database.
Uniform vouchers will be valued at £26 and will be redeemable at Whittakers Schoolwear in Shipley. Vouchers will not be valid in any other outlets.
In special circumstances, uniform voucher support may be provided to other parents/carers where exceptional need can be explained (e.g. families moving into the area for the first time from abroad).
Second-hand uniform
If your child grows out of their uniform and it is still in good condition, please send it into the school with your child. Uniform exchange sessions run as part of Coffee Mornings and family events, for more details please contact Assistant Headteacher Jonnie Czternastek.
Swimming & Outdoor Activities
Swimming in the school hydrotherapy pool is part of the PE curriculum. Some classes swim as a group others swim in single gender groups. Students need to provide a costume and towel each week for these sessions.
Many activities may take place in the local community, or school grounds. Students need to bring a coat to suit the weather and individual Bases may ask parents to provide Wellington boots for outdoor activities.
Admissions
We have children on roll from age 11 to 19 years. Our admissions are controlled by the local authority (Bradford LA). We usually admit pupils into the main school in September each year. In term admissions are at the request of the LA.
We are unable accept direct requests for placement from parents or carers or other local authorities. If you wish to have a place at Hazelbeck for your child you need to contact the Local Authority Special Education Needs Department. (Information can be found by clicking the link https://bso.bradford.gov.uk/content/admissions)
It is expected that all pupils placed at Hazelbeck School will have a ‘cognition and learning need’. That is that they will function cognitively below the levels of their mainstream peers and be learning at a slower pace. They may also have additional sensory, physical, medical or social and emotional and mental health needs or they may be autistic.
Entry requirements to Hazelbeck Sixth Form: All applicants to Hazelbeck Sixth Form will have an EHCP and each student’s admission will be on a case by case basis and discussion with the Headteacher and Local Authority.

Travel
Your child may be eligible for transport assistance. Bradford Passenger Transport Service is our local provider. This is not connected to school in any way. Families need to apply for transport assistance and have the needs of the students assessed. There is a cost for this service for students in the sixth form.
For parents of students in Year 6 looking to move to Hazelbeck please ask your primary school to assist you with the application process so that any service is in place at the beginning of the school year.
If you would like to find out more about the service or where to help and advice please contact the school’s Attendance and Family Support Team.
