I hope you have all had an amazing summer and have managed to have lots of fun as a family.
Firstly, a huge welcome back to all our students. I always love it when the school is full of the energy and enthusiasm that our students bring. We would like to say a huge welcome to all of our new students and we look forward to getting to know you better. We know this can be a tricky time of year for our students as they settle into new routines, get to know new students and staff and get used to being back in school. However, we know that before long everyone will be enjoying life at Hazelbeck and feel settled.
We would also like to welcome our new members of staff and look forward to them being a part of the Hazelbeck team.
We had real success for our leavers at the end of last year with all except two students leaving with four or more pieces of accreditation. For all our students we saw many successes; the organisation of the sixth form prom, achievement of Duke of Edinburgh Awards, increased confidence and ability to manage and lead both themselves and others, increased independence and a love of learning which was demonstrated through the progress they made.
We also ran our first holiday clubs over the summer and they were a complete success. Students and adults all had a brilliant time and enjoyed spending time in a more relaxed environment enjoying each other’s company. We look forward to running some more holiday clubs this year.
We are looking forward to the coming year and all it will bring. We continue to look for ways to break down barriers so that our students can thrive and achieve the very best outcomes. We will continue to encourage their resilience and belief in themselves by providing them with the highest quality learning experiences and giving them opportunities to put themselves outside their comfort zones and see they can achieve (this is often the case for you as parents too!). It is such an exciting time of year as we look forward to seeing what each individual will achieve in the coming year, what they will teach us, as well as what we can help them to learn.
As a school we are passionate about ensuring that your son or daughter have the very best experience possible at school, that they are eager and happy to come to school. We know that we only get one chance at giving them a great education and will do everything we can to make sure we get this right. I am determined that, with your support, this continues. Your first opportunity to come into school will be for our ‘Meet the Teacher’ coffee morning on Thursday 13th September, this will run alongside our Bright Futures Event. Please keep an eye on the website and in bags for letters with more details. I look forward to working with you.
Please contact me at any time should you need to.
