Sustainability
During the last half term Yellow Base did some learning based on Sustainability. Students took part in sessions which highlighted some of the challenges we face at present and are likely to face in the future. All the students showed great empathy and were really motivated by the discussion points. The vocabulary which makes up this huge topic was introduced, some of which was familiar and some less so.
The students were introduced to the Big Picture, but were also given opportunities discuss how to do their part towards Sustainability both in school and at home. Students talked about little things we as a class and as a school could do.
Adam Varley, the Trust's own Associate Director of Risk and Compliance, came in to speak to the students and explain some important points, the students really engaged with his presentation, asking lots of questions pertinent to the topic.
Finally the students decided to create a Litter Picking Team and offer advice to other classes and the wider community to explain the importance of keeping the world free from litter. They also created some wonderful posters which have been put up around Hazelbeck and Beckfoot schools to help people be more responsible.
Yellow Base worked really hard on the topic and are all trying hard to put in practice what they have leant about the subject on a daily basis. Thank you to Adam for taking the time to come and talk to our students.
