Our Week in the Woods

Our students had an amazing time during our recent ‘Week in the Woods’ – a special outdoor learning experience that gave all students the chance to explore, create, relax, and enjoy nature together.

The week was packed with exciting activities including woodland walks, cooking on the fire, making s’mores, creating crafts from natural materials, music therapy sessions, and exploring the environment through sight, sound, touch, and smell.
For many students, simply having the freedom to safely explore the woods and try something new was incredibly rewarding.

The woodland experience was designed to be fully inclusive, ensuring all students could access and enjoy every part of the week. Every student experienced the woods in their own way, and it was wonderful to see so many smiles, moments of curiosity, and genuine excitement.
Our Duke of Edinburgh students also finished a 10-mile walk before setting up camp in the woods, putting up tents, cooking on the fire, and working together as a team. Their resilience and teamwork were incredible to see.

Our Week in the Woods reminded us just how valuable outdoor experiences can be for our students. Watching them build confidence, develop friendships, try new things, and enjoy being in nature made the week incredibly special for everyone involved. Watch a video of one of our sing songs here!
