Recycling Week Across the School
This week, students across Hazelbeck have been exploring the importance of recycling as part of Recycling Week through a range of fun, practical, and engaging activities.
Students enjoyed learning about what happens to our waste and how recycling helps to protect the environment. Some classes watched a short video showing how a recycling centre works and discussed the different items that can be recycled. They also explored how families can help at home by sorting rubbish into the correct bins.
There were plenty of hands-on learning opportunities throughout the week. Students made their own recycled paper, created colourful bottle-top lettering displays, and took part in sorting activities where they organised bottles, lids, and paper into the correct recycling categories. Other students explored products made from recycled materials and discussed why reusing resources is so important. Some students also made exciting posters to promote recycling.
Creativity was on full display as some classes transformed old items into fantastic junk models, while others recycled plastic bottles to create calming sensory bottles. Students also made musical instruments from recycled materials and enjoyed playing them together as a class.
Many students took part in role-play activities to practice using recycling bins correctly and learn how to sort different types of waste. Some students even helped take recycling to the correct bins, putting their learning into practice in a real-life situation. It has been wonderful to see students across the school developing their understanding of recycling while building important life skills. Through exploration, discussion, creativity, and teamwork, everyone has played a part in learning how small actions can make a big difference to our environment.
