School Mental Health Award
Last Friday we were very pleased to welcome Liz Dawson from the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools to our assembly to present Hazelbeck with the School Mental Health Award (Bronze status).
This international Award takes a whole school approach to mental health and evidence had to be submitted covering eight key areas including supporting students and staff, working with parents and carers and staff professional development.
Working on the Award has led to initiatives in school which will benefit both students and staff by improving self-confidence, resilience and mental health and creating a culture of tolerance and acceptance. We are very proud to be one of only 103 schools nationally, and the first school in Bradford, to receive the School Mental Health quality mark accreditation and would like to thank all our students and staff who contributed to the assessment process. Thank you also to our Sixth Form students for rounding off Liz’s visit with a delicious afternoon tea after the assembly!
